we have been voting back and forth between republican and democrat on the national scale more or less for this reason; but it gets us nowhere. i agree that a voting block that does not blindly affiliate with any 1 party is very necessary, and i think that non-establishment (3rd party?) candidates may need to be chosen first since both usually both standard choices lead to the same thing.
